Moscow, Russia, July 13, 2006 — ABBYY, a leading provider of document recognition, data capture and linguistic technologies, today announced the opening of a new office in Tokyo, Japan. With its qualified staff, experienced in the Japanese IT market, the new office will provide sales and technical support to ABBYY’s Japanese partners and customers in their native language.
The opening of the new regional office is part of ABBYY’s ongoing expansion strategy and strengthens the partnerships with its Japanese clients, including scanner manufacturers Fujitsu, Panasonic, and Epson, as well as various application developers. “We started working with Japanese companies over 10 years ago. Now we’re at the stage where our operation requires the presence of ABBYY engineers in the country,” said Sergey Andreyev, CEO of ABBYY.
As a technology provider, ABBYY offers its award-winning recognition technologies for integration in third-party solutions including bundled software packages for scanners and MFPs, OCR applications, and forms processing and document management solutions. Technology integration often requires engineering support and direct collaboration between technology provider, integrator and customer. “Immediate responses from qualified engineers and managers are highly appreciated by our Japanese customers,” said Dean Tang, President and CEO of ABBYY USA. “The Japanese market is developed and competitive and demands excellent service from technology providers. It is important for ABBYY’s business in Japan to be able to provide fast support and consulting in the local language. We hope that with the improved support in the new office, ABBYY will be an even more attractive partner for Japanese companies.”
